President's Welcome

Welcome to the Grand Terrace Toastmasters Club 290!

What an honor it is to take the baton of this club’s team as president for the July to December, 2007 term. Today we stand as a President’s Distinguished Club. We have achieved 10 out of 10 goals set by the Toastmaster’s International. Impressively, this is our 7th year as a President’s Distinguished Club. We can together help make this year our 8th.

My responsibility as president is to help you, as an individual, to achieve your goals. I am also responsible for making sure that we meet our collective goals in order for the club to succeed in its plan to be a healthy and vibrant club. This health and vibrancy will show through the achievement of the President’s Distinguished Club award.

I have chosen as our theme, "The Baton Race". This type of race has to be won as a team. It is a race where one racer runs their course to their utmost capacity and then hands the baton to the next, who does not look back but trustingly awaits their team member to deposit the baton in their hand. Feeling the baton in their hand, the runner also gives their best to reach the next team member. Handing the baton to each other and running with all their might they achieve victory.

I look forward to knowing you better, to working with you in making your goals a reality during my term and to encourage you to appreciate the value of this club, which nurtures and supports everyone of its members all the way to his or her success.
