Melinda and Sandy win the Club's Best Evaluator and Humorous Speech awards during the Club's August, 2005 Speech Contest. Congratualations to Melinda and Silvana and all the contestants! Also a big cheer goes out to Donna Phillips as our test speaker. Thank you very much! Good luck to our contestants in the Area Contest.

Grand Terrace Toastmasters recognized by the City of Grand Terrace.
GTT President, Darcy McNaboe and VP Public Relations, Melinda Muganzo accept proclamation from the City of Grand Terrace dignitaries, Mayor Pro Tem, Council Member Maryetta Ferre, Council Member Lee Ann Garcia, and Mayor Herman Hilkey.

The proclamation reads:
Whereas, the ability to speak in a clear and effective manner is a powerful and important skill that can help to overcome barriers to effective performance in virtually every endeavor and line of work; and

Whereas, by assisting in the development of essential communication skills, Toastmasters International performs a valuable service for its members and those who carry the message of opportunity, initiative, and good
fellowship; and

Whereas, boasting eight decades of outstanding achievement, Toastmasters
International has grown to over 10,000 clubs and 200,000 members in 83 countries worldwide; and

Whereas, this remarkable expansion is a direct result of the enhanced knowledge and experience Toastmasters International provides its members and clients; and

Whereas, the month of October is the 80th anniversary of the founding of
Toastmasters International, and the 15th anniversary of District 12;

Now, Therefore, the City Council of the City of Grand Terrace, does hereby
proclaim October, 2004 to be: “Toastmasters Month”

and encourage all citizens of Toastmasters International and District 12 to
recognize the many accomplishments and opportunities in communication and
public speaking that this outstanding organization makes possible for people
everywhere.

This 28th day of October, 2004”

This proclamation was signed by all Grand Terrace council members.

Results of Club's International Speech and Table Topics contest:
Congratulations to Ted Holt for winning the International Speech contest and Sharon Dragan for winning the Table Topics contest. Knock for a loop at the area contest!
The Area D2 contest will be held at ESRI, Friday, March 12 at 6:00 PM.

Melinda Muganzo won the Area's Humorous Speech Contest and Darcy McNaboe won third place in Evaluations!!
The Area Speech contest was held at ESRI, Friday Sept. 19. Fumi was the TM for the Humorous Speech contest and it was one of the best contests in all aspects. Additional attendees from our Club were Jinwu Ma, Bill Frederick, and John Klemski.
Congratulations again Melinda and best of luck at the Division D Speech Contest.

25th Anniversary Celebration and Officer Install!
It's our 25th Anniversary and we will be celebrating it at the University Club in Redlands on June 29th from 11AM to 2 PM. Mark it on your calendar!

New Meeting Time Instituted!!
The Club now meets from 7:00 AM to 8:15 AM (rather than the 'old' time of 6:30-7:45). This should allow you sleepy heads an extra half hour of blissful repose...and likely bring in some new members.

Installation of Officers for January through June of 2003 was held at the Club's Annual Christmas Party at Bob Best's house.
The New Officers are: Bill Dean, President; Mark Braband, EVP; Bob Best, MVP; Rick Gilbert, VPPR; Jinwa Ma, Secretary; Larry Jones, Treasurer; Tony Petta, Sgt-At-Arms.

In case you haven't heard yet, Grand Terrace Toastmasters contestants did themselves proud at the Area Speech Contest. T.J Mc Cree was the runner up in the Evaluation Contest and Ted Holt was the winner in the Humorous Speech contest. Ted, will complete at the Division D contest Oct. 18th at ESRI.

Officer Installation is scheduled for Sunday, July 14 at the Food Connection Restaurant in Grand Terrace. The dinner installation meeting will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. We will have District 12 Governor, David Wilkerson,DTM as installer and will ask Jimmy Ford, DTM as our guest speaker.
